About Us
The Austrian Government is strongly committed to the goals defined by the European Union in Lisbon and Barcelona and attaches particular importance to scientific research and technological development. On 11 July 2000 Parliament therefore established a new, independent Council for Research and Technology Development which on 1 September 2004 became a legal entity under public law. The Council’s work covers the entire national innovation system and it may be consulted by both federal and regional institutions.
The Research and Technology Funding Act (FTFG) provides the statutory basis for the establishment of the Austrian Council and also defines its tasks. YoU can download the Act here (in German). The passages concerning the Austrian Council can be found in Article 2, Paragraph 17 (page 11ff). In accordance with its legal remit the Austrian Council has adopted Rules of Internal Procedure (in German).
